For the last two months, I've been driving without listening to music and I'm perfectly okay with that.

I once had the stereo stolen in my truck, and I went without for over a year. It was actually pretty calming. I eventually got a radio because I realized that the car was really the one place that I could listen to music during the day. I still turn it off frequently and just listen the road and the engine.

The stereo in the Cherokee broke for a while and I was tune-less for a few months. It got to the point that I was making up songs and strange noises with my mouth when I was driving O_o
Never going back.

I was wondering if I could do this today while driving to work. Then I realized I did not have the radio/a cd playing on at all. So yea maybe I could. But some classic and or heavy metal at the end of the day is so nice to wind down

Basically. And with my cheap car put together with craigslist parts hearing the engine can be VERY HELPFUL.
Next week it becomes a V8 Symphony.
Long tube headers plus true dual Super 44 Flowmasters.

I just find driving relaxing, even in traffic. No need to bring unnecessary noise into the equation.

I eventually transitioned into talk radio. I have a hard time admitting that without feeling old.
Don't get me wrong there are still times I like to crank it up, but most of the time it is NPR for me. It's much less distracting background noise, and I listen to music while I work now.

Lotus = No radio, couldn't hear it if I had one. Earplugs FTW.
Subaru = AM News/Talkshow radio. Once in a while a MP3 CD or MP3 player.
Haven't listened to FM radio for years.

Which Lotus, might I ask?
FM is generally garbage so we're not missing much.

Yup. It's my daily driver, as long as it doesn't rain. Sure makes the drive to work bearable.
